After almost 2 years the hardtail experiment is running - Called it the Chump 'cause that's what I feel like for even attempting the project. Built in India and shipped here 90% complete after the builder gave up and threw it in a crate (sans various bits including extra tanks). Better than nothing, and boy is it loud ! (muffler to be fitted shortly).
Came out sweet. What front end is that? I have been thinking of doing my RE up with a girder
ReplyDeleteThanks ! The front end id a repro from India. The finish is a bit rough, but the ride is surprisingly light & firm.
ReplyDeleteWhere in India did you build this ?
ReplyDeleteBuilt in Delhi, but the weld quality has been disappointing - would prefer to get them out of Madras (sorry.. Chennai) or up north in Nepal - apparently they're churning out some wild customs up there.
ReplyDeleteOkay !
ReplyDeleteCan this Grider Fork be built ?
Hi Mike,
ReplyDeleteThis looks epic... nicely done.
What tank is that?
I've been hunting for tank options for ages and this one looks like a win.
Would be grateful for the lead.
Cheers
Hey there, apologies only just picked up your comment from July- had the tank made to my own specs in India. Their welding & finish is crap, however & the seams leak after a year or so. A local fabricator may be able to make one, but easiest is just to find old yamaha dirt bike tanks or similar and modify them.
DeleteGood luck !

That looks like a 16H Norton WD front end. Reproduction.
ReplyDeleteIt's a standard 350 single with a 500 cylinder head. Louder than a Harley with its shortie pipe!
